Peaceful Park

I love the way that this photo came out because it looks so warm and peaceful. The bright sun really makes the picture look beautiful.

Baily

This is a picture of my dog, Baily. I thought that the angle I used really came out cool because he is looking right into the camera. I edited this photograph with iphoto because I wasn't able to get to the lab to use photoshop. I played around with the temperature and added matte edges.

The History of Photography

Yesterday we took a trip to Old College and learned about the different types of old fashioned photography. Some of the different processes used are Ambrotype, Deguerotype, Tin Type, and Cyantype. Ambrotypes are glass negatives with black background. Deguerotypes are made on a copper plate, and have a bright mirrored surface. Back in the 1800s it would take 15 minutes to take a photo! However, some of these processes are still used today. I found it really interesting to learn that there are so many different processes.

Here is a link to a website which talks about the Cyantype process:

First Post!!=)

I chose this photograph for my self portrait project because I liked how it had a mysterious, yet fun look to it. I thought that changing the photograph to black and white really helped capture the mood. I've never taken a photography class before so I'm still learning how to use the D40, however I've always loved taking pictures with my digital camera.
